Kristi started her show career Oct 9/1999 and had obtained her Canadian Championship at 16 months of age in four short days, going Winners Bitch, Best of Winners & Best Of Breed over Specials. Kristi was OFA "Good" and both CHD & CERF *clear*.
Thanks to Jerry & Sandra (Barrenfield) & Adele (Kipmik) for the breeding that produced this lovely bitch. Kristi is the dam of our Chance - Multi BIS Multi BISS A/C Ch. Koyuk's Take A Chance On Me CGN.
Jac had not seen the show ring since he was a 10 month old pup. With ihe Alaskan Malamute Club Of Canada National being held here in Alberta, we decided that he needed to come out and see if he still remembered how to act/behave in a show ring. Trudy Taphorn agreed to be the guinea pig and, as you can see, the results were outstanding. Not only did Jac prove that he remembered how to behave but he still had the *right stuff* that he showed as a promising young pup. Jac still needs to fill out but he is well on his way to be a promising special!
Jac completed his Canadian Championship in one weekend at the Grand Prairie show in June, 2004. Taking multiple Best of Breeds to finish, Jac went on to take a Group 4th and Best Puppy in Show under judge David Paterson!

Jac is shown with friend Patty Kendrick who showed him to his Group 4th/BPIS wins.
The pictures below gives you an idea of what I mean by woolly. This picture was taken in mid August. As you can see, everyone else is bald but not Nik. At one time I loved her coat (not knowing any better). It was so soft and what a little fuzz ball she was as a baby - soooo cute! First time she blew her coat, well the birds had enough fuzz to last a lifetime, the garbage men thought I had a new baby, & garbage bags were on my shopping list every week. I was glad to see my first winter with her. Not! That soft coat picked up ice, and the hair between her toes made it very hard for her to enjoy herself in harness because she was always stopping to pull it out. By the time that first winter had ended, I had made her 15 pairs of winter booties and used up two jars of Vaseline. My personal motto: NEVER GIVE UP. So what is the correct coat? To me, one of good length with the texture of moose hair.
Nakeetha will never be my Nikki Wild Dog Of the North, not as far as sledding goes, but I have tried to make it more enjoyable for her when she's out with the others. Nik excels in other areas like baseball, bird catching, and, during a past summer, her WCDE "Working Canoe Dog Excellent". At least she didn't dump anyone into the lake.
This is Nik, Kashtin’s sister. She is our wooly girl. Have to trust me on that one. Lassie would die for her coat.
Big Red had the biggest heart of any of our dogs. He was uncle to all pups we brought home and was always ready to play tag or teach them how to catch mice in the fields. Kashtin's certificates are WNX (working nose excellent; could find the sledding trail in a whiteout, could smell deer from a mile away.) There are many more titles we of this household gave him, and he earned them all.
This is a picture of that cute little puppy taken at 1 year. Thank goodness he did not grow any more.
This is Kashtin at 6 months. Both Kash and his sister Nik were bought without papers and both were altered at 6 months of age.

This is a picture of Tuk and his brother at 5 weeks. Even as a baby, he put his best foot forward!
Tuk was my first show dog. He was responsible for hooking me on the sport. He taught me many things but most of all that anything worth doing is worth 110% of effort. Whether on the trail or in the ring, he gave his all. Tuk finished his championship at 19 months of age, and achieved his WBS (Worlds Best Snuggler) long before that.
Here we are for our morning jog. What do you think? Are they having fun?

Ani was the dam of our Jac and Minx, bred to our Chance, Multi BIS BISS Ch. Koyuk's Take A Chance On Me. She received her group 2nd from the classes at her first outdoor show. Ani was a standard size bitch (23 1/2 in.) with great side gait, correct coat, and a zest for life no matter what she was doing. She was both ChD and cerf *clear* and had an OFA rating of *GOOD*.
Thank you Mr. Robert Cole for giving Ani her Best Puppy In Show. Thank you also to Ms. Barbara Knoll for seeing what this young bitch had to offer and giving her a Group 2. A Special Thank you to Adele (Kipmik) & Mike (Keipawachin) for sending this lovely little bitch my way.
